Tsuki no Shippo Ch.57 Summary

Hanzou has just come to Usagi’s aid inside Nobunaga’s fortress. Ranmaru calls for the guards but Hanzou and Usagi use a smoke ball to disappear. He takes her back to a hideout where they meet up with Yuuri. Yuuri scolds her for making them worry. Usagi tries to tell them the details about the invasion, but Hanzou orders her to drink some water and calm down first. Yuuri leaves to go accompany Goemon, so Usagi and Hanzou are left alone. Hanzou brings Usagi some water but she is shaking so badly that she can’t hold on to the cup. And so he holds her in his arms and comforts her. She is relieved to be alive and with Hanzou again.

Meanwhile, Mamezou and Usamaru are wandering around, heading for the capital to be with Usagi and also looking for Uribou. They come upon a sleeping, bearded man tied to a tree…the man that Hanzou impersonated to get into the tea ceremony. Thinking he might be dead Mamezou tickles the man with a pussywillow (or something) and the man wakes up. Mamezou unties him and then begins to walk away. The man offers a reward as thanks, but Mamezou declines, telling the man, “Usa-sama told me not to take anything from strangers.” As Mamezou happily continues on his way, the man thinks to himself that if that child were still alive he would probably be about the same age.

Mamezou finally arrives at the dango shop, which is surrounded by a crown of people. The place is being searched by Nobunaga’s men, but all they find is a cat. Mamezou makes the mistake of mentioning Usagi’s name, and Mitsuhide (the guy with poor eyesight) nabs him as one of Usagi’s associates.

In the meantime, Usagi is finishing up her report to Hanzou. She asks him if she has fulfilled her mission and he tells her yes, she has done well. Excitedly, she exclaims that she totally didn’t recognize him at the tea ceremony…then realizes with a shock that if he was there then he saw her kissing Ranmaru. She asks him not to misunderstand what happened. He replies that he understands she was doing it to put Ramaru to sleep and that female ninjas often use such techniques. BUT, he tells her there should’ve been other techniques she could’ve used and that she hasn’t trained enough! Gloomily, she asks if he is mad and huffily he replies that he is not. (She can’t quite believe him though…) Dejectedly she despairs that she still won’t be able to gain her ninjutsu mastery. Then Hanzou lifts her chin and LICKS her mouth (??) claiming that she is cleansed (from the kiss with Ranmaru I guess). He tells her that from now on no matter what happens she’d better not kiss anyone but him.

They share a deep kiss which Usagi enjoys immensely…until Hanzou points out that she has a bald spot on her head! It is a result of the extreme strain she’s been under recently. Of course, Usagi is embarrassed, but Hanzou tells her not to be. It is proof of what she has done and they will be able to stop the invasion of Iga thanks to her. She declares that if it’s for his sake she can do anything. As they move in for another kiss, Mitsuhide enters, led to the hideout by the crying Mamezou he is carrying!!
