Tsuki no Shippo Ch.49 Summary

Usagi and the two Hanzou's are presented to Oda Nobunaga. He looks at them very meanly and Usagi is scared out of her mind. The person who lead them to Nobunaga, Mori Ranmaru (who must have been introduced in chapter 48 and who probably serves Nobunaga) proceeds to chew out Nobunaga for addressing the guests in such a manner. Nobunaga then falls to his knees and apologizes!

Usagi flings herself on Ranmaru begging him to stop so Nobunaga doesn't kill him. Ranmaru then tells her that the man is actually a stand in for Nobunaga. It turns out that Nobunaga had to leave abruptly for a military related meeting. Shimo no Hanzou wonders to himself if the meeting is about invading Iga. Ranmaru apologizes to "Hanbee" that the standin was so unskilled that he was able to see through it ("You noticed, Hanbee?" asked a surprised kami no hanzou).

Since the real Nobunaga is not here, there is no need for them to be there and they are free to leave. (Usagi is thrilled). However, Ranmaru asks that before they leave Usagi comes with him for a second so he can give her a reward. WITHOUT Hanbee. "Hanbee" is not happy, but does not follow. He takes her to Nobunaga's treasure room and says she can pick whatever she would like. Her attention falls on a globe. Ranmaru explains that it is a map of the world. Usagi is fascinated and HE is excited at how easily she accepts the world being round. Usagi asks where the capital is. He replies that it is too small to be on the map, but shows her japan. She then asks where "Nanban" is, because Yuki-chan went there. She explains about Yuki and Ranmaru is envious, wishing he could go there as well. (i'm sorry, but i forget what/where "nanban" is. You guys probably remember).

Usagi feels like she has seen this man before but can't place him. then all of a sudden an orangutang (however its spelled ^^) wearing a golden "hat" appears. Ranmaru is distraught because, as it turns out, the "hat" is actually a sake cup made from the skull of Asai Nagamasa (ew) and it is the one thing that Usagi may not choose. The story of the skullcap sake cup is so scary that usagi falls down and can't get up.

She then realizes where she has seen the man before. It was someone she saw in Kouga with Hikaru. She's terrified that he will recognize her and realize she is actually a shinobi. She tries to run away until it seems that she is not found out. Then suddenly she is wigless! Mosuke (the orangutang) has pulled it off and is now wearing it. In a stroke of terrified brilliance, Usagi explains that she messed up while cutting her hair, but that Hanbee likes long hair and begs him not to tell her husband about the wig. He agrees, saying that it will be their secret. They go back to the Hanzous, Ranmaru giving a reluctant Usagi the globe.

Usagi knows that she has to tell Hanzou about Ranmaru being in Kouga but she's afraid Hanzou will yell at her for not realizing it sooner.

When they get back Hanzou immediately notices that Usagi's hair is messed up and demands to know if choosing a gift was really all that happened. Ranmaru tells Hanzou that he wont say as it is their secret. Hanzou is VERY miffed at this, wondering WHAT the secret is, lol.

Kami no Hanzou announces that it is time for them to head back to Okazaki. (that's where they said they are from.) Usagi is very eager to end the mission so she and Hanzou can go back to Iga and get married. And it's finally time. BUT THEN, Ranmaru announces that he has business with Tokugawa Ieyasu and asks if he may join them on their journey home! Poor Usagi! It looks like she and Hanzou won't be heading home after all…
